Policy

Championed legislation to strengthen economic security for families, including policies for Paid Safe Leave, Paid Parental Leave, and Pay Equity & Transparency.

Advocated for the “A Home for Every Neighbor” initiative: a $3.3 million investment for residents experiencing homelessness.

Established the Cleveland Commission on Black Women and Girls to uplift and address the unique experiences of Black women and girls.

Co-sponsored the Transformative Arts Fund, leading to a $449,750 award for an outdoor community space in AsiaTown.

Launched the Community Grassroots Grant Initiative, allocating over $258,000 to support resident-led projects.

Accomplishments

Addressed over 4,200+ constituent cases.

Attended over 517+ resident, business and community stakeholder meetings/events

Created a weekly e-newsletter (116+ editions) to keep residents informed and engaged.

Hosted over 67 monthly community drop-in hours for one-on-one open dialogue and accessibility.

Built strong community partnerships to expand services for residents, including:

  • Animal Wellness Clinics in collaboration with the Animal Protection League
  • Estate Planning, Property Tax Education, and Senior Clinics with Cuyahoga County
  • Will Clinics in partnership with Case Western Reserve University

Advocated for Transformative Development Projects that support health, safety, housing, and economic opportunity, including:

  • Birthing Beautiful Communities Birthing Center – a culturally centered facility to improve Black maternal and infant health outcomes.
  • Cleveland Police Department Headquarters – a new 250,000 sq. ft. facility to modernize public safety operations.
  • Gordon Crossing – a 54-unit apartment development offering quality, affordable housing.
  • Henrietta Homes – a project bringing 40 new single-family homes to expand homeownership opportunities.
  • Midtown Collaboration Center – a 95,000 sq. ft. hub fostering innovation,partnerships, and community-serving programs.
